Microsoft Develops Compelling Vision For The Future
I’m not a big Microsoft fan and don’t hide my position. However, in my opinion, Microsoft Office Lab’s 2019 vision is a great example of future or ideal customer experience design. It provides enough reality in the three-person family vignette to let viewers imagine themselves as each of the characters. Of course, as you watch the futuristic scenes unfold and the data fly seamlessly from environment-to-environment and device-to-device, your brain immediately begins to wonder how.
That’s OK. The point is to get people to believe that something different actually can happen. Then, to let them turn their analytical brain on to figuring out how.
If you’re in B2B or B2C, you can use a similar technique to create your vision of the future–then let others react to it. You’ll learn–at extremely low (financial and political) cost–your vision’s strengths and weaknesses as well as your teams’ reactions to it. Think of video prototyping as your own petrie dish for quickly capturing and sharing experience possibilities with the audiences and constituencies you need to influence.

Way too many physical laws being broken in these ads. I was watching someone play a virtual violin on the XBox 360 site the other day. Milli Vanilli does Bach!
